Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals
The SPCA took in 10,082 unwanted animals in the 12 months from 1st July 2005 to 30th June 2006. This figure includes 1,847 small animals (rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs etc.) of which 1,380 were rabbits. That works out to be around 30 animals each day. Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters form the majority of the animals we receive.
